2. Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide and improve our service.
Information you provide:
- Your name (entered during onboarding)
- Email address (if you create an account via Firebase Authentication)
Information collected automatically:
- Cards you have seen (to avoid repetition)
- Cards you have saved (your bookmark collection)
- Books explored count
- Daily streak and insight counts
- App theme preference (light/dark)
- Crash reports and performance data
Information we do NOT collect:
- Location data
- Contacts or phone data
- Camera or microphone access
- Payment or financial information
- Any data from other apps on your device
3. How We Use Your Information
- To personalise your reading experience
- To maintain your saved cards and streaks across sessions
- To improve app performance and fix bugs
- To respond to support requests
We do not use your information for advertising or sell it to third parties.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted in the asia-south1 (Mumbai) region. Firebase uses industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your data.
5. Third-Party Services
- Google Firebase — Authentication, database, and analytics
- Expo — App build and update infrastructure
These services have their own privacy policies which we encourage you to review.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account within the app, all your personal data is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Sumrise is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us at support@sumrise.in and we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email support@sumrise.in. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Account Deletion
You can delete your account directly from the Sumrise app via Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This action permanently removes all your data from our systems.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Sumrise after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
